You’ll learn what biomass is, how it is sourced, manufactured into pellets and then transported within a sustainable supply chain. Additionally, you’ll participate in a hands-on activity that’ll allow you to create a hypothetical biomass sourcing plan, considering environmental and sustainability factors.

Biomass Generation and Carbon Removals

Get ready to deep dive into biomass generation and renewable power, where you’ll focus on Drax Power Station, the site of Europe’s largest decarbonisation project. You will learn about the generation of electricity and bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), a groundbreaking ‘negative emissions’ technology, and explore how carbon is captured and stored to combat the climate crisis.

Flexible Generation & Energy Solutions

You’ll explore key concepts and real-world applications of renewable energy solutions, such as electric vehicle charging and find out more about our flexible generation including hydroelectric and pumped storage systems and electric vehicles (EVs). You’ll gain insight into land management practices relevant to rural surveyors, with a case study on Cruachan demonstrating the integration of sustainability in energy projects. We’ll also present a case study on how Drax powers a major UK retailer.
